Located in the state of Nayarit (Puerto Vallarta is in the state of Jalisco), Nuevo Vallarta (translated into English as New Vallarta) is situated 10 minutes north of the Airport and south of the village of Bucerias. The Flamingos area (named after the Flamingos Golf-course), is at the northern part of Nuevo Vallarta, just before arriving to Bucerias.
Nayarit is in a different time-zone from Jalisco, however, a few years ago, the government adjusted the time zone boundary to include the tourist related areas up to Sayulita. This eliminated much confusion and prevented a lot of missed flights!
This region has been one of the fastest growing and most successful investment areas in the state of Nayarit, often ranking within the top 5 vacation destinations in the country. National and foreign investment opportunities continue to be developed.
